Risky Business…(Atrial Fibrillation Awareness Month)
Risky Business….
Arguably one of the most important parts of Atrial Fibrillation (AFib) management is risk factor modification.
When I meet/consult with patients we spend some time talking about what I can do for them and just as much time talking about what they can do for themselves!!
One of the biggest modifiable risk factors is obesity. There is great data not only on the impact of weight loss and improved cardiovascular health but also with arrhythmia reduction, slowed disease progression and improved ablation results/success!
I am a huge advocate for patients taking ownership in their own medical care – we are a TEAM and our end goal is ALWAYS the same… the best possible outcome for each patient!
If you or a loved one has symptoms of atrial fibrillation, make an appointment for a health checkup. You may be referred to a doctor like me trained in cardiac arrhythmias, called an Electrophysiologist.
You are not alone!!
Stay tuned for more to come!
